The Cleveland Guardians only had 2 hits through the first 7 innnings.  Buttttttttt, then the 8th inning happened...

The Detroit Tigers got off to a hot start in the top of the first as Parker Meadows led off the game with a single to right followed by Gleyber Torres reaching on an error.  However, with runners on 1st and 2nd and nobody out, the next three Tigers batters struck out.

The Guardians took a 1-0 lead in the bottom half of the first on a George Valera homerun.

Javier Baez stayed hot singling in what appeared to be 2 runs in the top half of the 4th.   After doubling to right field, Riley Greene scored on the Baez single and at first, it appeared that Dillon Dingler scored giving the Tigers a 2-1 lead.  Zach McKinstry slid in to third base on the Baez single and was initially called safe.  After a replay, he was ruled out, which was the third out of the inning, negating the Dingler run.

The scored stayed knotted up at 1 until the bottom half of the 8th.  Tigers pitcher, Troy Melton, got  CJ Kayfus to ground out to lead off the inning.  And then the flood gates opened up.  Ninth hitter Brayan Rocchio hit a homerun to right field, giving the Guardians the 2-1 lead.  The homerun was followed by back to back doubles by Steven Kwan and Daniel Schneeman, giving the Guardians a 2 run lead.  Catcher Bo Naylor capped off the scoring with a three run blast to right field, making the score an insourmantable 6-1.

The Tigers left 15 runners on base.  Ouch.

Tigers starting pitcher, Casey Mize, went just three innings, giving up just the homerun to Valera.  First pitch in game 3 is Thursday at 1:00 pm (Jack Flaherty vs Slade Cecconi).
