It's been since 1985 that an 0-4 team has beaten a top 10 ranked team in college football when UTEP beat number 7 ranked BYU.
Forty years later it has happened again. In one of the most shocking upsets in the history of college football, the 0-4 UCLA Bruins beat the #7 ranked Penn St. Nittany Lions, 42-37. Absolutely unbelievable.
How does a number 7 ranked team lose to an 0-4 team?
How does a number 7 ranked team give up 42 points to an 0-4 team?
How does a number 7 ranked team give up 446 yards?
How does a number 7 ranked team give up 280 rushing yards?
Absolutly unbelievable.
Going in to today's game, Penn St. had beaten 34 straight unranked opponents. And this unranked team, UCLA has been a mess. They fired their head coach, DeShaun Foster, after just 3 games this season. UCLA started off the season losing to Utah, UNLV, New Mexico, and Northwestern. Now they have just beaten a top 10 team.
Most people certainly had Penn St. a lock to make this year's playoffs and many had them projected as a possible contender to win the national championship. They have now dropped two games in a row. Last week they lost a heartbreak in overtime to national championship contender, Oregon.
The knock on Penn St. head coach, James Franklin, was that he cannot win big games. Ummmmmm, this was not a big game. If he already had people questioning him because he cannot win big games, how will those people now feel about him losing to an 0-4 UCLA team? Penn St. still has number 1 ranked Ohio St. and number 8 ranked Indiana on their schedule.
Absolutley unbelievable.
